- Complete assigned spreads immediately (for most spreads, unless waiting on photos or a game or something, completion in about a week is an appropriate time frame--two weeks max). (Note: Occasionally, I or an editor, may pull you from a spread to do something else. I’ll take this into consideration as I assess your work ethic.)
- Once your assigned spreads are done, ask for more to do! A level students realize our scope of work and that we must all pull our weight in here. We can have fun, but the pages must be done!
- If you don’t have what you need for a spread, GO GET IT! A level students don’t wait around for me or the editors to solve their problems. Be a problem solver--if that means you have to talk to people you don’t know, take photos at a game or during the school day, and/or seek out examples to help you, so be it.
- Complete QUALITY work! Meaning:
- Uniform (or traditional) layouts have been checked for consistency (ie. the boxes are the same size and at the correct location to line up with others). Non-uniform (or non-traditional) layouts have some plan (ie. groupings). No chocolate chip cookie layouts!
- You follow the spread checklist to make sure all elements are present (a feature image, captions on all photos, grammatically correct copy, etc.)
- There is copy (a story) on your spread--EVERY spread should have copy!
- EACH and EVERY NAME is SPELLED CORRECTLY!
